Great Lakes Chocolate and Coffee

Lately my favorite place to take the laptop and get some work done is Great Lakes Chocolate and Coffee. Heck, I go through their drive-through and get a cup when I don’t have time to make my own in the morning.

Its a nice relaxing place, usually busy, but not so much that you can’t get a seat, and their wireless internet is nice and quick (a HUGE deal for me).

Now, while they’re not strictly a Lansing company, they are a Michigan company, and there’s a lot to like about them.

They started here in Michigan, with a cafe in Sturgis, MI. They have a location in Ann Arbor as well, and most recently their Lansing shop, located in the Stadium District building, right across from Cooley Law School Stadium (or Oldsmobile Park as most of us remember it) – home of the Lansing Lugnuts.

Anyway, they roast their own beans, which is super-cool. We have a great roaster here in Lansing, but its great to find another one. The staff is nice, and most of them love to have a chat with you, and the coffee is good.

They also have a great selection of teas, which they will make either hot or iced for you.

Haven’t had any of the chocolate yet, but its definitely high-grade stuff, and looks excellent.

As a bonus, the sleeves here  are branded for Downtown Lansing Inc.

Great Lakes Chocolate and Coffee is open Monday-Friday 6:30a-8p, Saturday 7a-8p, and Sunday 8a-6p. They are located at 500 E. Michigan, Ste. 190, and can be reached by phone at 517-999-3405.
